Abstract:

Pigeon pea accessions grouped on the basis of plant type, maturity and susceptibility along with standard cultivars to study their response on various developmental stages of the pod fly in relation to biochemical parameters of pigeon pea seeds. The development of pod fly was considerably delayed and survival reduced on least susceptible accessions as compared to susceptible ones. The biochemical assays of pigeon pea seeds revealed that non-reducing sugars, total phenols, tannins, crude fibre and trypsin inhibitor activity adversely affected growth and development of pod fly, suggesting antibiosis against pod fly in pigeon pea.
