Abstract:

Oviposition deterrent property of some pant extracts were evaluated against Helicoverpa armigera (Hubner) under laboratory conditions. The plant twigs treated with neem seed kernel extract received minimum eggs (24.8 and 26.4%) over control (untreated twigs) under caged conditions in dual choice method in methanol and chloroform : methanol (9:1) extract at 7.5 and 1.0% concentrations, respectively. Extract of M. azedarach drupes was also as effective as neem seed kernel extract. However, extract of Lantana camara, Datura stramonium and Calotropis procera were not as effective as neem and M. azedarach extracts in deterring oviposition by H. armigera female moth.
