Abstract:

The efficacy of inert dusts against the lesser grain borer was evaluated under laboratory conditions at the Department of Entomology, RCA, Udaipur during 2013-14. Among different inert materials evaluated for their effectiveness against R. dominica upto 120 days, diatomaceous earth at 5 and 10g/kg grains and rice husk ash at 10g/kg grains were found superior with cent per cent adult mortality, no grain damage and weight loss and no progeny development. Flay ash at 5g/kg grains with adult mortality of 52.25 per cent, 11.25 adults emergence, 17.16 per cent grain damage and 5.01 per cent weight loss was least effective.
