Abstract:

A field experiment was carried out at the Agricultural Research Station-Banswara (Rajasthan) during khany:2014 and 2015 to evaluate the efficacy of carbosulfan 25 EC against aphids and thrips of cotton. The various doses of carbosulfan 25 EC i.e., 250, 312.5, 375 and 625g a.i. ha' (only for phytotoxicity test) along with standard checks i.e., fipronil 5 EC, thiamethoxam 25 WG and imidacloprid 17.8 SL were evaluated against aphids and thrips of cotton. The maximum per cent reduction in population of aphids and thrips was recorded in carbosulfan 25 EC @ 375g a.i ha" at 3 and 5 days after spray, respectively, and was statistically at par with carbosulfan 25 EC @312.5g a.i ha-1 during both the years. It was followed by fipronil 5 EC and thiamethoxam 25WG. The highest mean seed cotton yield of 1508 kg was also recorded in carbosulfan 25 EC @ 375g al ha' followed by carbosulfan 25 EC @ 312.5g a.i Carbosulfan 25 EC did not cause any phytotoxicity symptoms to cotton crop.
