Abstract:

Investigations were carried out on “Insect Pollinators of Pumpkin ( L.) and their Foraging Cucurbita pepo Behaviour” during 2019 at Rajasthan college of Agriculture, Udaipur. The insect pollinators of kharif pumpkin consist of total 7 species. Among honey bees, proved to be the dominant one (67.40%) Apis dorsata followed by (14.28%). activity was observed from 0600-1300 hrs with peak activity at A. florea A. dorsata 0900-1000 hrs. activity was observed from 0600-1400 hrs with peak activity at 0800-0900 hrs. The A. florea treatments comprised of: seed kernel extracts-5%, leaf extracts-10%, Azadirachta Azadirachta Azadirachta oil-1%, Dusparni-10%, Teekha sat-3% replicated 4 times.Side-effects of botanicals on major insect pollinators of pumpkin recorded that there was a decrease in insect pollinator intensity ranging from 7.95 to 20.45%. Effect of botanicals on the major insect pest of pumpkin observed that seed kernel Azadirachtin extract (5%) was more effective against red pumpkin beetle followed by leaf extract (10%).
